Free-Motion-Quilting challenge Sewcalgal 2012- April

This month our expert was Don Linn.
He showed us very clearly how to transfer a design on our practice quilt sandwich before quilting.
I followed all the explanations as you’ll see on my pictures.

First, I drew the design on a tulle fabric with my water eraseable blue marking pencil

Then I drew it again following all the lines on my quilt sandwich

There we are !

Then I quilted Don’s flower on my home sewing machine Bernina

Here is my flower in front

and on the back

Then I filled in all around the flower with FMQ

There is the final result !

and some details

It was a great pleasure to quilt this design.
Thank you so much Don for sharing your great skill with us !

Free-Motion-Quilting challenge SewCalgal – march.

This month, Ann Fahl invited us to quilt various patterns and the most important was to feel free about it.
I made this block with great pleasure

and I try to show you some details

Thanks to Ann for this wonderful teaching !

Free-Motion-Quilting challenge SewCalgal- february

In february, our tutorial was on feathers taught by Diane Gaudynski.
I enjoyed very much this tutorial which looks so clear, so simple and so easy…
Thanks Diane for this wonderful teaching !
I was very anxious how to make it and then, after a long time to calm down, I had to shut up and quilt !
I show you my work

a little bit closer

and the back

I am very pleased with the result and thank you again Diane for this nice initiation !

Free-Motion-Quilting challenge 2012 SewCalgal – january

Wandering on Internet, I went on Frédérique’s blog and I discovered this new challenge on SewCalgal blog.

I viewed Frances Moore’s tutorial with all these small leaves and I was enthusiastic !
I decided to sign up.
I made my first  bloc using  hand-dyed fabric about 12 X 12 inches and I had a great pleasure quilting this garland of leaves

and more closer

I really enjoyed quilting this pattern and I’m looking forward to the next one !
If you want to join us, it would be great !

See you later in this wonderful challenge !
